I checked in with one of my friends currently “behind the desk” at one of the most competitive universities in the US.
From his perspective, the most impressive AP courses are AB and BC Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Foreign Languages, and English Literature..
Is AP Lit or Lang harder?
AP Language, without question. Lang is mainly about essay writing and analyzing non-fiction works (such as short articles, speeches, etc), whereas Literature is based on fictional works. There is a lot of story writing in that class, so the writing assignments are longer and harder to analyze.
Is AP Physics 1 or 2 harder?
Going forward with this understanding, it stands to reason that most students taking both courses will find AP Physics 2 to be more difficult that AP Physics 1. The topics are generally more abstract and some of the most difficult topics to grasp are contained within Physics 2.

Why is AP chemistry so hard?
It is hard because it requires you to have a strong base chemistry knowledge and an average math background, your math will develop so much through this course. I think the thing that makes this class hard is the mixed style of memorization and math skills needed.
Is 3 AP classes too much?
Take as many as you can handle without spreading yourself thin, and make sure you will have time to study for the ACT or SAT this year. An Ivy League hopeful might take 3 to 5 AP classes, while if you’re aiming for less-selective schools, 2 to 4 would be enough.
